Golden Tropical Smoothie Bowl

Turmeric started gaining popularity last year and it’s still going strong. What is turmeric?

If you don’t know by now, Turmeric is a South Asian spice that comes from the turmeric plant, which is closely related to the ginger family. Many recipes using turmeric are from India, Pakistan, and Morocco.

You might hear turmeric referred to as “the poor man’s saffron.”

Curcumin is the chemical that gives turmeric it’s golden yellow coloring along with its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Many people swear by turmeric for its cold fighting properties. While others use it to help reduce inflammation and pain.

Turmeric has been used for many things from headaches, arthritis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, reducing gas and bloating, to increasing the bodies capacity for antioxidants, improving brain function while reducing one’s risk for brain diseases, and cancer. These are just a few ways turmeric has been used over the ages, some dating back to 250 BC.

There are many ways to add turmeric (the miracle spice, as I like to call it) to your diet.

I love using it in this Golden Tropical Smoothie Bowl. Pineapple, mango, banana, coconut milk, ginger, and turmeric are just a few of the ingredients. Making for one delicious tropical smoothie bowl with all the benefits of turmeric to help you begin your day.

And what better way to fuel your body since turmeric has also been known to improve digestion.

It’s a win-win!
